The onion rings are the same. Customers place their orders then go sit in their cars until it is ready. They also sell pocket knives. The shakes are decent. But the bacon cheeseburger is to die for.
When my Dad was going down I took him out for a long drive. We ended up here. Parkinson’s is a cruel sort of thing which robs you of the use of various things until you don’t have the use of your body any more. He wasn’t supposed to be eating things because his esophagus got screwed up and directed food into his lungs instead of his stomach. But today he got the bacon cheeseburger and he loved it. You see, living in Harlan County had given him a real education in greasy hamburger joints.
There was Jack’s drive in going out towards the hospital. We lived up the hill from it in a little house right after I was born. Then there were the two drug stores downtown, Creech’s and the Green Mill. They both had good hamburgers. Loyall and Evarts had hamburger joints of their own.
